With experience leading a number of nationally significant multi-state investigations, litigations and settlements, the firm represents and advises businesses of all sizes in critical areas of government enforcement and regulation, including data privacy, consumer protection, antitrust, financial services, and environmental regulation.

George Jepsen is the principal of the firm, George Jepsen and Associates, LLC where he uses his substantive experience as a former State Attorney General to represent clients facing government enforcement actions, investigations and litigation. He focuses his practice on existing and emerging areas with laws enforced by state attorneys general, including privacy and data protection, financial services, consumer protection, antitrust and environmental regulation. George guides clients through complex matters, resolves investigations and minimizes exposure to litigation.

George’s legal and public service career has spanned more than 30 years. He served for eight years as Connecticut’s 24th Attorney General. During his tenure as State Attorney General, he advocated on behalf of Connecticut and its citizens to protect the public interest, ensured that state government acted within the letter and spirit of the law and safeguarded the rights of the most vulnerable citizens. George is recognized as a national leader on data privacy, antitrust, consumer protection, health care, financial services, and environmental issues.


George’s most significant accomplishments while Connecticut Attorney General were the high-profile national bipartisan investigations in which he held a leadership role, including price-fixing in the generic drug industry, the largest mortgage-foreclosure settlement in U.S. history, the role of manufacturers and distributors in a national opioid abuse crisis, abusive consumer account practices by a multinational financial services company and an unprecedented data breach by a credit-reporting agency as well as data breaches by several major national corporations.


George’s service as Connecticut Attorney General was characterized by a commitment to taking on issues of national significance and forging cooperative working relationships among all states attorneys general to address those issues. He was president of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), where he received the Kelley-Wyman Award, the organization's most prestigious honor awarded annually to the state attorney general who has contributed the most to achieving NAAG objectives. He also served as Co-Chair of the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) from 2013-2015, and is currently a director of the DAGA sponsored Leadership Center for Attorney General Studies which supports research and provides educational information on priority policy issues while raising awareness of the work state attorneys general achieve.


George graduated from Dartmouth College, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, received his JD from Harvard Law School, cum laude, plus a master’s degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Prior to his two terms as Connecticut Attorney General, George served for 16 years in the Connecticut General Assembly as a state representative and state senator, including six years as Senate Majority Leader.
